About the Role
At Hümanette, we're seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team, where you'll have the unique opportunity to prepare and serve delicious café fare while creating a safe, fun, inclusive, and enriching environment for children and their families. If you love working in a dynamic, family-friendly setting and have a passion for both customer service and supporting children and families, this position is for you!
Hümanette Cafe Associates will be expected to:
Provide excellent customer service and assist caregivers and children with any questions or concerns
Prepare and serve cafe food and beverages to customers, maintaining a KCMO food handlers permit
Supervise and monitor children in the indoor playground to ensure their safety and enjoyment.
Help plan and run events, parties, and drop-in camp programming for children ages 1-7
Provide occasional supervised play sessions (child care) while parents work on site
Supervise the indoor play area during open hours, ensuring a safe and clean environment for children and families
Communicate with customers and staff in a friendly and professional manner, building rapport with our member families
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee and food preparation station, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth operation of the cafe
Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the play areas, equipment and toys
Plan and execute events and activities in the play area
Assist with the preparation and execution of birthday parties and other special events
Collaborate with the management team to ensure smooth operation of the cafe
Communicate with customers and staff in a friendly and professional manner
The ideal candidate would have:
Proven experience as a barista and/or in a food-preparation setting
Proven experience working with children in a supervisory setting
Strong understanding of child development and behavior
Strong leadership and supervision skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under pressure and multitask
A keen attention to detail
A positive, proactive, collaborative attitude
Flexible availability, including weekday mornings, weekends, and occasional evenings
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds
First Aid and CPR certification is a plus
